Entry Criteria
The New Zealand Rogaining Association and the IRF Executive are pleased to announce the details of the Entry Criteria for 9WRC 2010 New Zealand.
These Entry Criteria apply to 9WRC 2010 only, it is a prospective variation upon the procedure utilised for 8WRC2008 Estonia.
NZRA are responsible for the organization of 9WRC 2010 including the administration of the Entry Criteria, for complete details please consult the 9WRC 2010 web site at http://wrc2010.org.nz
The essential detail of the Entry Criteria is repeated below.
Entry is in 4 phases running from now to 31 January 2010.
Number of entries is to be 550 maximum.
Team size is to be 2 or 3 people.
Phase 0: up to 31 October 2009
1. IRF Executive will supply a list of “PRE-QUALIFYING ENTRANTS” (PQEs) (see definition below).
2. NZRA will establish an appeals committee (under WRC rules) to deal with any disputes over PQE status.
3. List of PQEs will be published for transparency reasons.
Phase 1: 1 November 2009 to 15 December 2009
1. Registration opens on 1 November 2009
2. All entries are chronologically wait listed and a deposit taken. They are loaded onto a public web page.
3. Web page is to show acceptance or wait listed and if accepted criteria for acceptance.
4. PQEs are invited to confirm entry. They have 2 weeks to pay the entry fee.
Phase 2: 16 December 2009 to 31 January 2010
1. Registration continues with waitlisting
2. The waitlist is scanned from the oldest entry and teams that qualify under National representation or Age Grade Representation criteria (defined below) are accepted and their application is processed. They have 2 weeks to pay the entry fee.
Phase 3: 31 January 2010 onwards
1. Registration continues
2. Invitations to compete are sent out in wait list order
3. Two week period for competitor to reply then position offered to next person.
Pre-Qualifying Entrants Defined
These criteria are used to determine automatic entry during phase 1.
1.1) all teams that include 1 past world open category champion in their team (MO, WO, and XO)
1.2) All teams that include 1 medal winner (three best teams) from the following qualifying events. Medal winners are top 3 teams in any of the 12 age gender categories.
• WRC 2006 and 2008;
• European Rogaining Championships 2008 and 2009;
• North American Rogaining Championships 2008 and 2009;
• New Zealand Rogaining Championships 2008 and 2009;
• Australian Rogaining Championships 2008 and 2009.
1.3) IRF members and observers
1.4) Entry in the SuperVet age group at WRC2010 for a team that includes at least one person who at a qualifying event would have been in the top two SuperVet places but was at the time competing in a lower age group.
Underrepresentation Criteria Defined
These criteria are used to determine automatic entry during phase 2.
• Teams from non- or underrepresented rogaining countries, up to a total of 10 competitors per country (incl. current registrations)
• Teams in underrepresented age-gender categories, up to a total of 6 teams per category (incl. current registrations)
Appeals
Any disputes over a teams status under the PQE’s may be resolved by appeal to the WRC9 appeals committee.
